Meet people where they are, love and respect them unconditionally and help them develop healthy relationships

Sundays with the Compass Center

It all began with vision to create a judgment-free environment where those coming from the backgrounds of addiction, homelessness, incarceration, a criminal past or simply a life of poor choices would be comfortable exploring faith, asking questions and encountering a God that loves them, forgives them and wants them to know Him. We want to spend more time talking about what we are FOR and less time talking about what we are against. We want to spend less time quoting scripture and more time LIVING it. We want to put more emphasis on being IN the church and place more emphasis on BEING the church as God through Christ designed it.

We believe that building quality relationships of trust over time is the key to helping individuals transform their lives and make lasting positive changes. We match our students with trained Mentors who are willing to meet with them on a regular basis, encourage them and instill hope and dignity. They share their own life experiences and help the students make quality choices, which is the key to lasting life change.

Meet people where they are, love and respect them unconditionally and help them take their next step in the workplace.

Meet people where they are, love and respect them unconditionally and help them take their next step in their Faith walk.

Meet people where they are, love and respect them unconditionally and help them develop a high level of Character.

Peer Mentoring

Jobs for Life is a Faith-based eight week, sixteen session, 32 hour workshop that strives to restore dignity and self-worth through the value of quality employment. Our students learn how important good character is to employers. we discuss values, work up a quality resume, learn interviewing skills, create individual "one-minute commercials" and meet with local business leaders and human resource directors. Jobs for Life students learn to identify existing roadblocks that might be holding them back from realizing the job of their dreams. We help students develop a working plan and execution strategy to overcome and eliminate those roadblocks, clearing the way to fulfilling employment.

We use one hour conversational roundtables to walk individuals through 40 character values. These discussions help to create a sense of responsibility for themselves, give them new ways to view others, situations and problem solving. We create an atmosphere for change, teamwork and positive influences.
The roundtable format allows individuals to express themselves, listen to the opinions of others and to respond to new ideas. We also encourage application of these principles through self-evaluation and specific action steps.
